busy streets

Picture

September 2018
Media~Oil pastels, Tempra paint
Process~First I choose a picture then I started with a blank piece of paper and put the first layer of paint on that closely matched a the paint sample
Then I started with the oil pants using Impressionism techniques and applying small brush strokes with the pastel
lastly I drew and colored the clouds showing only the blue from behind the paint
Artist statement~While I was scrolling through my photos, for this piece I stumbled upon the picture that I took on my way to my aunts house. I choose to paint this picture because of how it made me feel. It reminded me of my childhood because I used to go there every summer.I choose to have a darker color scale to show how my childhood is fading as I’m getting older and the road shows my path in life as it continues to grow.and that’s my piece!

The Forest

Media~oil pastels
Artist statement~The process we all used for this piece was that we went out side as a class to recreate the impressionistic style of the artist that we learned about in class. I used a mix of reds, yelllow, greens, and browns to recreate the colors in the trees and how the light was reflecting on to them

Girls in the trees

Media~News paper, oil pastel, Tempra paint
Artist statement~For this piece I wanted to make a statement on how we have all become
desensitized the things going on around us because of the meadia. I used news paper to show the media and it’s influence on people.I choose to paint cherry blossoms around the girls to represent all the beautiful things in life still going on around us and lastly I choose to paint the girls in pink and purple to show the
naivety of human nature.

The Light House

Picture
February 2019
Media~Clay
Artist statement~My clay piece was supposed to turn out to be an incense burner. My original goal was to make a light house with waves crashing up on to the surface. I used the slab technique for the waves and for the cylindrical shape of the light house.
